Der Gebrauch von Modalwörtern in der Pressesprache

Magisterarbeit aus dem Jahr 2015 im Fachbereich Deutsch - Pädagogik, Didaktik, Sprachwissenschaft, Note: 65/100, Université de Yaoundé I (Département de Langues, Littératures et Civilisations Germaniques), Veranstaltung: Linguistique Allemande, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: "The use of sentence adverbs in the Press: an essay on communicative and pragmatic study" is the topic of this research. This work is based on the fact that German linguistic literature shows a great lack of theoretical and empirical studies of sentence adverbs. In dictionaries, linguistic publications and scientific researches, indications about their contextual significance are often inappropriate or even misleading. Apart from some descriptive studies about sentence adverbs, there is a little corpus of linguistic researches about its communicative and pragmatic significance. The existent Researches are mostly centred on morphology, syntax and semantic. In this way, the following study tries to describe and analyze the significance of sentence adverbs in the German press language. After theoretical considerations of this topic, a corpus-based analysis carried out. The corpus comprises data collected from some texts published in some German news papers. In this Master thesis, I carry on an empirical study about "sentence adverbs" in the German press language. The contextual usage of some frequent and main sentence adverbs has been examined in details. By analyzing those sentence adverbs, we tried either to justify its linguistic significance or to give good reason for their commonly usage in the press. Furthermore, it was also the matter to justify the different communicative functions they have in the press language. This study examined the communicative meanings or effects that sentence adverbs produce in the press language from a functional, communicative and pragmatic point of view. From this study it result that the meaning of a sentence adverb is contextual, consequently it modifies the whole meaning of information. That justifies the reason why we use the speech acts theory as the fundamental theory of this study.
