Jedoch hat Craik gleich Schlegel die Empfindung, dass jenes un nennbare Etwas fehle, das immer anzieht und bezaubert, eben weil' es sich nicht erklären lässt (siehe oben): Still even in these, we nant the dewy light and rich coloured irradition of the poetry of Shakespeare and Fletcher: the lustre is pure and bright, but at the same time cold and sharp, like that of crystal (s. Schlegel vermisst den musikalischen Reiz der Sprache, Craik Wärme und Weich licit.
